Cultural heritage
On a place like this where the wind never stops
blowing and running through the slides of mount
Olympus, it seems like having a purpose: to give
life to all species of nature, from the full
green pine tree and the age old fir to the
humble little wild flower. All these things make
Litohoro o unique place with a genuine
traditional culture seen through the language,
the traditions, the customs and rituals, the
songs traditional, and the architecture,
elements that show this great sense of majesty
and civility.

Religious Tradition
Since 1530, when St Dionysios arrived at the
region and built the monastery, Litohoro has
been connecting its historical course with this
monastery hermitage. Olympus, the monastery of
St. Dionysios and Litohoro have been the shelter
of “man-at-arms” Kosmas o Etolos, the
great teacher of the Greek nation has also
passed from here.
